The Lady Selwyn

Ok, so, it's been a while...

Monday, September 8, 2008, 10:53 PM EST [General]

Well, it has. Doesn't seem like so long on one hand, yet on the other, a lifetime ago... Many things are different and many are not. So I bet you all have been wondering what I've been doing... The short answer is: whatever I want. If I want to pick up and drive to Lady Taylor's to watch a movie, I do. If I decide the night before at 10:45pm to go to MDRF the next morning, I go. If I want to buy an awesome new computer, well I did :-)  Point is, I am doing what makes me happy. I did read all the well wishes from all of you and I want to say thank you and assure you that I am doing great. I started playing D&D with a group of great friends and I've developed into quite the computer geek of late. In fact, I've been keeping myself so busy with things RPG and computer related I haven't made much time for my sewing. I vow I will get back to it at some point. Never fear, the creations of Lady Selwyn will begin anew. I can't promise I'll finish everything I had originally intended before the end of the MD season, but I can and will promise I will return and things will be bigger and better than ever for my having taken this extended hiatus. I love you all and thanks again!

    Looking forward, 8 more days...

Thursday, May 22, 2008, 10:20 PM EST [General]

In just 8 more days, that would be next Saturday for those of you without a calendar readily available, I'll be on my way to VARF (for the first time ever) for my first faire fix of the year! And that's not the best part!

Saturday, May 31 is my birthday!

Please, my friends, if you see me wander by, stop me and say hello! You will recognize me, and my set (of 2), by the dresses you have seen here. My sister-in-law, Lady Stephanie, will be in her blue gown, my dearest friend, Lady Taylor, will likely be displaying her olive and maize confection, whilst I will be seen flaunting my lovely green and plaid ensemble. I can hardly wait!

Hope to see you there :)

    Unbelievably quiet...

Tuesday, March 25, 2008, 11:52 AM EST [General]

Yes, I have been quiet for a few days, which you all know by now is extremely unusual for me. I went to Grandma's in Ohio for the holiday and she has no computer *gasp/sob*. I'm trying to convince her she needs one... We'll see...

When I returned to work this morning, my dress form I had ordered last week (purchased for me by previously mentioned and much adored Grandma for an early birthday gift) was sitting in my office. I can barely stand to work with the box sitting across the desk staring at me! I'm anxious to get it home and set up. I have heard that they are to be named in order to follow the unwritten code of the seamstress (Yes, made that up, but it really does sound nifty!). At first I thought "Bob, the cross dressing dress form" would be fun and different, but I am going to bow (for once) to my better sense and think of a better idea. I'll let you know what I decide...

Gotta go back to work now, just wanted to check in. Thanks to everyone who left encouraging comments on the corset, I truly appreciated each one! Peace.

Grommets... oh how I hate them!

Tuesday, March 18, 2008, 10:11 PM EST [General]

After pounding (literally!) 13 grommets into/onto my corset, I am done for the evening. I was beginning to feel the hammer strikes in my brain (hmm... sign to stop? DUH!). So instead I will bombard you, good people, with my random (and somewhat vague, I'm sure) thoughts...

I have made a separate blog category where I can detail all the design type stuff for the garb I am currently under commission to produce. Check 'Garb Under Construction' (heretofore referred to as GUC) if you're interested in that. Now I have a place to put serious garb related stuff and a place to pontificate like the loony I am. Huzzah to my organizational abilities! (I hear people in the peanut gallery yelling 'DORK!'- "Be quiet you!" says I) Now where was I, oh, right, pontificating loonies... I think, due to my pounding headache and the callous on my finger, which by the way has eliminated my ability to feel the keys as I type rendering my typing skills akin to that of a 3 legged race horse, I am going to stop here and get some info up on the GUC blog... Peace
